A PERSONAL STARTING POINT

Understand your rhythms.
Make room for balance.

Ayurveda places the individual at the heart of wellbeing.

As an Ayurvedic Diet and Lifestyle Consultant, Alka explores your eating habits, everyday routines and what you would like to work towards. Traditional tongue and pulse assessment forms part of this conversation.

Your consultation considers the Ayurvedic concepts of your original constitution, known as Prakriti, and current patterns of imbalance, known as Vikriti. These offer a traditional framework for discussing your lifestyle.

The aim is to find a practical, personal way forward that fits your life.

THE THREE DOSHAS

A different lens on your nature.

In Ayurvedic tradition, Vata, Pitta and Kapha describe three patterns associated with the elements. Your consultation explores their place in your individual constitution.

Vata

AIR & ETHER

Traditionally associated with movement and change.

Pitta

FIRE & WATER

Traditionally associated with warmth and transformation.

Kapha

EARTH & WATER

Traditionally associated with structure and steadiness.

UNDERSTANDING AYURVEDA

A whole-person approach to balance.

Ayurveda is a traditional holistic system from India with roots stretching back thousands of years. Its philosophy views body, mind and spirit as interconnected, bringing attention to food, daily routines, rest and emotional wellbeing.

At its heart are three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. In Ayurvedic practice, a detailed conversation alongside traditional tongue and pulse assessment is used to explore your original constitution, or Prakriti, and current patterns of imbalance, or Vikriti.

Each person is approached as a unique individual. Alka uses this traditional framework to develop dietary and lifestyle guidance around your needs, with a personal care plan that makes space for nourishment, self-care and reflection.

Although rooted in India, Ayurveda offers a philosophy of daily living that can be explored wherever you are. Its traditional emphasis is on maintaining balance as well as responding when that balance feels disturbed, with attention to the mind, emotions and physical body together.

Understanding your individual constitution is a way to become more involved in your own wellbeing. Rather than following a single routine for everyone, you and Alka explore the habits that suit you, with nourishment and renewal at the centre of a plan you can bring into everyday life.

The intention is to help you understand your own patterns and make manageable changes in everyday life. Traditional Ayurvedic assessment is distinct from a medical diagnosis.
